Agenda 111: Government Terminates 3 Contracts

The government of Ghana has terminated the agreement of three contractors working on the Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Ashanti Region.

These contractors were in charge of the projects at Manso Adubia in the Amansie South District, Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South-West District and Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District.

Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed this while speaking at a press briefing at the Trede project site in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, where the project was launched two years ago.

According to him, the contracts were terminated because the contractors were behind schedule.

As a result, Mr Nkrumah urged the various contractors working on the hospital projects to perform well in order to meet the deadlines or risk having their contracts terminated.

Meanwhile, he added that 88 out of the 111 projects are currently under construction.

“The brief I have is that 88 are currently under construction, and it is grouped into eight zones and in those eight zones, you will find 54 projects.

“The majority of them that are doing well. We have also updated you on the ones that we have had to terminate because they are behind schedule,” he said.

The Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Nsiah Asare, also indicated that the IMF conditionalities would not affect the Agenda 111 projects.

He also promised unemployed health workers, particularly nurses and doctors, more jobs once the projects were completed.
