  • Education Ministry Launches National Schools Awards to Boost Education Standards

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Apaak, has launched the National Schools Awards – GALOP Edition, an initiative aimed at promoting excellence and improving learning outcomes across the country.

Dr Apaak, speaking on behalf of the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, said the awards form part of efforts by the National School Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) to strengthen accountability within the education sector.

He described the initiative as more than a recognition scheme, calling it a significant step towards improving the quality of education nationwide.

“This is not just about awards; it is a bold national commitment to improving learning outcomes, strengthening accountability and celebrating excellence in education,” he said.

According to Dr Apaak, the programme aligns with the government’s broader vision of building a sustainable, high-performing education system that delivers meaningful results for every Ghanaian child.

He also acknowledged the role of GALOP and NaSIA in supporting reforms in the sector, particularly in underserved communities.

Their efforts, he said, have contributed to strengthening school leadership, improving teaching practices and enhancing learning outcomes in schools across the country.

The initiative is expected to recognise high-performing schools and encourage continuous improvement in education delivery nationwide.
