The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly has officially commissioned a new 3-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities in Dalogyili, a significant development aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions while addressing the growing classroom deficit in the area. The project, financed through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), was executed at a contract cost of GHS 902,501.00.

Construction of the facility commenced on October 20, 2025, and was completed ahead of schedule, The new classroom block is expected to significantly enhance the educational environment for students and ease the pressure on existing classrooms.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Adam Abubakari Takoro, described the project as a tangible manifestation of the government’s Resetting Ghana Agenda, which emphasizes placing ordinary Ghanaians, especially school children, at the center of development efforts.

Hon. Takoro reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bridging infrastructure gaps in education across districts and assured that resources like the DACF are being utilized transparently and effectively for projects that directly benefit communities.

“This new block provides decent classrooms for the children of this community and demonstrates this Assembly's commitment to closing infrastructure gaps in our schools.” He further commended the efforts of the Member of Parliament, the Assembly Member, the Ghana Education Service, the School Management Committee, PTA, traditional authorities, and the contractor for their roles in ensuring the successful and timely completion of the project.

Representing the Minister of Education, Mr. Nelson Konlan, the Tamale Metro Ghana Education Service (GES) Director expressed appreciation for the project and assured that the new facility would motivate teachers to improve their efforts. He also urged school authorities to protect and properly maintain the infrastructure to ensure its longevity and continued benefit to the community.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Fuseini Bawa, on behalf of staff, pupils, and the community, expressed gratitude for the project. He noted that the classroom block would help reduce overcrowding and improve academic performance.

However, he made a heartfelt appeal to the Assembly and the Ministry of Education for the provision of a water tank to support hygiene and sanitation efforts within the school environment.

This development underscores the commitment of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and the government to improving educational infrastructure, fostering conducive learning environments, and promoting sustainable community development in the region.
