Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged Absa Bank Ghana to expand access to finance for women-owned businesses and young entrepreneurs.

She also called on the bank to develop practical financial solutions for businesses in agriculture, manufacturing and trade.

Speaking at the commissioning of Absa Bank Ghana’s new head office in Accra on Friday, September 25, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said improved access to finance would help widen opportunities for women and young people in the private sector.

“Expand access to finance for women-owned businesses and young entrepreneurs and develop practical solutions for businesses in agriculture, manufacturing, and trade,” she said.

The Vice President also urged the bank to strengthen cybersecurity and information security as digital financial services continue to expand.

She said customers must have confidence that their money, personal information and transactions are secure as more financial services move online.

“The Bank of Ghana’s renewed focus on cyber and information security is therefore timely. Innovations must continue, but so must investment in the systems, the safeguards, and people required to protect customers and preserve confidence in our financial system. Therefore, I encourage you to harness technology to widen financial inclusion, while ensuring that customers who need personalised support are not left behind,” she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged Absa to harness technology to widen financial inclusion while ensuring that customers who require personalised support are not left behind.

She further urged the bank to uphold high standards of governance, integrity and responsible banking.

She commended the board, group leadership, management and staff of Absa Bank Ghana for their contribution to the bank’s operations and development.
