The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has convened a high-level stakeholder meeting with key institutions in Ghana’s tertiary education sector to deliberate on urgent issues surrounding the implementation of the No-Fees-Stress Initiative for the 2026/27 academic year.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Vice-Chancellors Ghana (VCG), and the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).

Discussions focused on the implementation of the initiative and measures required to ensure its effective rollout across tertiary institutions ahead of the 2026/27 academic year.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their collective commitment to ensuring that no qualified Ghanaian student is denied access to tertiary education because of financial constraints.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts by the government and its education-sector partners to strengthen access to tertiary education and address financial barriers confronting students and their families.

The Students Loan Trust Fund expressed appreciation to the Education Minister for his leadership and commended all participating institutions for their continued cooperation towards the implementation of the initiative.

The SLTF further assured students, parents and guardians that it would continue working closely with partner institutions to support President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of ensuring access to tertiary education through the No-Fees-Stress initiative.

Further details and updates on the implementation arrangements for the 2026/27 academic year are expected to be communicated in the coming days.
