Real Madrid scored three late goals to overturn a two-goal deficit and snatch a dramatic 4-3 victory over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Trailing 3-1 with seven minutes remaining, Madrid mounted a remarkable comeback at the Stadio Olimpico through Carlos Espí, Endrick and Antonio Rüdiger, who struck the decisive goal in the 90th minute.
Marten de Roon opened the scoring for Roma in the 20th minute before Kylian Mbappé equalised five minutes later. Donyell Malen then scored twice early in the second half to put the hosts firmly in control.
However, Madrid refused to surrender, with all three of their late goals originating from Arda Güler's corner deliveries.
Espí pulled one back in the 83rd minute before Endrick levelled the contest with a powerful header. Former Roma defender Rüdiger completed the turnaround to secure a memorable victory for the Spanish giants.
The result gives Real Madrid a second win in their opening two Champions League league-phase matches, while Roma are left to reflect on a painful late collapse.
