Church of Pentecost partners Zoomlion Ghana Limited to clean Dalogyili community on May Day

The Dalogyili District of the Church of Pentecost in the Tamale Metropolis has partnered with waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited to organize a clean-up exercise in the community to mark this year’s May Day. On Monday, May Day 2023, a day set aside to celebrate workers across the globe, the Church of Pentecost led by the district Pastor and elders organised the cleanup exercise to demonstrate the admonishment of Christ in 2 Corinthians 7:1 NIV that “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God”.

Speaking the media during the exercise, Mr. Sulemana Haruna, northern region coordinator of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, entreated Ghanaians to see environmental cleanliness and good sanitation as a civic responsibility and the work of God. He said the waste management company was collaborating with the Church of Pentecost to recycle waste in the country. In view of this, he revealed that Zoomlion Ghana Limited has trained aggregators in the waste management value chain to buy plastic waste materials and Zoolion will in turn buy them for recycling at the Integrated Recycling and Compost Plants(IRECOP) owned and operated by the Jospong Group of companies, a subsidiary Zoomloin Ghana Limited. He said it is the mandate of Zoomlion Ghana Limited to keep the northern region clean and called on the residents of the residents dispose their waste responsibly. He also called on communities in the region to institute biweekly clean-up exercises in order to keep the country clean.

Mrs. Anna Esinam Baah Ofori, Church of Pentecost Tamale Area Women’s Ministry leader, while underscoring the value of the exercise noted that cleanliness falls under the Church’s vision 2023 under the able leadership of Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, 6th Chairman of The Church of Pentecost.  

She said the COP’s Vision 2023 executive summary states that, “We shall be committed to positioning the local church as an agent for community transformation through its active involvement in community development”. 

 She commended the Dalogyilli district Pastor for initiated the cleanup exercise stressing that it go a long to enhance quality living of the people in the community. She disclosed the women’s wing resolve to support the district in achieving its goals and objective of cleaner environment. 

Mrs. Anna Esinam Baah Ofori advised the public to keep to good sanitation practices as it is said that “cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

Mr. Luke Sei Nemen Snr. Dalogyili district Overseer of the Church of Pentecost, noted that the Church intends to plant 1 million trees in June this year across the country to complement the government’s Green Ghana Project. He said Ghana was battling the effects of climate change and planting trees was one of the surest ways of mitigating the effects of climate change. He also commended Zoomlion Ghana limited and the Tamale Area Women’s wing  Leader for their enormous support.
