‘It makes absolutely no sense Ofori-Atta is still in office; Ghanaians have lost confidence in him’ ~ Lydia Forson

Ghanaian movie star Lydia Forson has asserted that “it makes no sense” that the Finance Minister of Ghana, Ken Ofori-Atta, is still at post.

According to her, Ghanaians have lost faith in him and the Finance Minister’s response to this must be his immediate resignation.

Also, Ms Forson wondered why Ghanaian government associate, Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, founder of the Danquah Institute (DI) and a cousin of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s, has not noted the “resignations and firing” traditions of UK politics, as part of his “obsession” with their governance style.

An actor and activist, she tweeted: I really wish @GabbyDarko’s [Gabby Otchere-Darko] obsession and admiration for the UK parliament included taking pointers as well on resignations and firing.”

“It makes absolutely no sense that Ken Ofori-Atta is still the finance minister,” she reasoned and queried: “How?”

“He’s lost the confidence of the people!” she argued.

Recently, the United Kingdom’s Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng was sacked and subsequently their Prime Ministe, Liz Truss, also resigned.

Lydia Forson joins a section of the Ghanaian public asking why this is not common in Ghana.

Meanwhile, actor and comic Kwaku Sintim-Misa has also advised the Finance Minister of Ghana to honourably resign for another to take reins since President Akufo-Addo apparently will not do it.
