It was a drama filled last day of the 2021/22 season in the premier league on Sunday, as Pep Guardiola’s cityzens had to come back from 2-0 down at home to Aston Villa to win 3-2 and defend their league crown.
City pipped challenges Liverpool to the league crown by a point. Manager Pep Guardiola has now won 11 trophies in six years since coming to England and the Spaniard described his players as legends following their comeback win to secure a 4th league title in 5 seasons and a 6th in total in the last decade.
City trailed 2-0 to Villa with 15 minutes of regulation time to play before substitute Ilkay Gundogan scored twice, either side of midfielder partner Rodri 7th goal of the campaign.
The win meant Liverpool’s 3-1 comeback win against Wolves caused no real damage to Manchester city’s title defense.
With the addition of forward Erling Braut Haaland to the city squad, it is widely believed the sky blues will be in the mix again next season for a 3rd straight league title in 3 season.
