MP for Tamale Central cuts sod for Kulikuli school Astroturf project

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central Constituency, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has cut sod for the construction of an Astroturf at the United Primary School Park, popularly known as the Kulikuli school park. The project which is expected to be completed in six months will provide an ultra-modern football pitch for many inhabitants in the area who use the field for sporting, social and religious activities.

The project is funded by Ghana Gas Company Limited contrary to claims by some elements of the government that it was being funded by the Zongo Development Fund.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed paid glowing tribute to the Member of Parliament for Tamale South Haruna Iddrisu, for facilitating the negotiation of the funding of the project from Ghana Gas Company Limited.  He said the Minority Leader in Parliament played a pivotal role in getting the Ghana Gas Company to support the project.

The Tamale Central lawmaker said he was full of great joy to see the beginning of what he termed a great project. He anticipated that the project when complete will help in discovering and nurturing many football and other sporting talents in the Tamale Central Constituency and greater Tamale area at large. He revealed that he will find ways to collaborate with the community to ensure proper maintenance of the project when complete.

The former deputy minister for Trade and Industry in the erstwhile NDC administration has brought numerous developmental projects to the constituency in less than two years since he was elected as a Member of Parliament.

Some of the projects include; a completed clinic project at Changli, a suburb of Tamale, completed borehole projects in some selected communities in Tamale and the payment fees in full of ten medical students from the constituency among others. He has also broke grounds for the construction of the clinic at Sakasaka while organizing an extra class for students in the Tamale Central Constituency.
