#NigeriaElections2023: Voters flee as thugs destroy electoral materials

Voters in Ogege road, Odaba Polling Unit in Dekina Ward have fled from the voting arena following the activities of political thugs who came in large numbers to destroy voting materials.

Operatives of the Nigerian Army on Saturday gunned down an unknown ballot thief at Ogege Road, Odaba polling unit in Dekina ward in Kogi State.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that voters in the area fled from the voting arena following the activities of political thugs who came in large numbers to destroy voting materials.

The thugs who appeared with machetes and guns snatched ballot boxes, broke chairs and dispersed voters.

As of the time of filing this report, voters and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission have dispersed.

Hundreds of people have been queueing at the Awada Primary School in Onitsha, Anambra State, since the early morning hours but have been unable to vote due to technical issues.

Sixty-four year old Obi Samuel said INRC staff turned some voters away, saying they did not have the necessary code to access the digital registration system, or BVAS.
