NPP can break the 8, not with Muhamadu Bawumia but Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten

Even Alan wouldn’t have it easy because Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have depleted all the goodwill the party had in addition to their personal reputation.

ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS that may enable NPP break the 8 is the poor preparation of the NDC to collate and secure their votes. They should be able to invest both resources and great deal of thinking there because that’s where they lost both 2016 and 2020 elections.

What many don’t know is that by 2016, people like Koku Anyidoho, Allotey Jacobs, Jerry Rawlings, E.T. Mensah, Martin Amidu, etc, were in NDC in body but not in mind and spirit. They had gone out to help Akufo-Addo led NPP to send the John Mahama led NDC to opposition so that they could go with Rawlings to reclaim the party from John Mahama and his people. They may have their genuine grievances in addition to personal interests.

At the time Koku Anyidoho raised the song: “the victory of the NDC is coming again” at the party headquarters he’s laughing at Mahama and his people. He knew they had lost because they had given the NPP all the needed clues against the NDC long ago.

The real problem they faced after the NDC went to opposition is what they didn’t have the financial muscle to depossess John Mahama of the party. That’s why John Rawlings kept complaining about how some people are using money to control the party.

Akufo-Addo recieved them but his party knew they didn’t belong and treated them as such. I knew Martin Amidu would resign when I heard of John Rawlings’ death because he’s the only one who held him in that unholy marriage. He wanted to exit long ago because he saw that nothing was working but Rawlings kept him in.

As for Koku, it’s after he said that Akufo-Addo would suffer his father’s fate and he’s detained that he reflected with his political future in mind and chose to openly gravitate towards Akufo-Addo for some peace of mind and stomachcare.

Paying attention to his utterances after he’s released and following the arrest of Kwesi Nyantakyi over Anas’ Number 12 investigative piece, one could observe how he percieved John Mahama long before they left power in 2016. He had all that in him yet walked around with him as though he admired him and was committed to his victory.

This is why I made the observation that John Mahama was absolutely wrong to have given Rogo Mettle Nunoo the nature of assignment he gave him. That’s too critical assignment to give somebody who had nothing to lose when you lose the election. This is somebody he gave no big appointment in government. No wonder, he went for tea and chased biscuit because the tea was without biscuit.

Aseidu Nketiah should’ve handled that assignment because he had everything to lose after enjoying juicy contracts among others under John Mahama. Even so, the effects of their poor investment in technology and IT expertise for vote collation and security couldn’t be discounted.

The NDC has a lot of work to do to win the 2024 elections. The poor performance of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia’s government, the disappointments, growing plundering and corruption and hardships are no guarantee that they shall win.

But, should NPP shamelessly and disrespectfully field Muhammadu Bawumia to infuriate Ghanaians more, the NDC may have a less burdensome task.

By President Ablorh.
