NPP race: Don’t insult back when they insult me – Bawumia warns team, says ‘we’re one family’

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has urged unity within the governing New Patriotic Party party so they can to combat the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 polls.

In a bid to maintain a respectful and dignified campaign atmosphere, Dr Bawumia underlined the significance of a clean contest as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race escalates.

Dr Bawumia asserted that following the conclusion of the internal election, it is crucial for the party to unite as a formidable force to prevent the return of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power.

During an address to party supporters in the Ashanti Region, Dr Bawumia revealed that he had advised his supporters and spokespersons against engaging in retaliatory responses to attacks from rival aspirants.

Emphasising the importance of unity within the party, Dr Bawumia stated that all factions must recognise the necessity of presenting a unified front against the “main enemy,” which he identified as the NDC.

“I have instructed all my supporters and spokespersons that we must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults,” he stated. “We are one family, and we must remain united. Once the contest concludes, we will come together as a cohesive force to ensure the NDC does not return to power.”

The NPP is scheduled to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 elections on November 4. As of now, all ten flagbearer hopefuls have been cleared to participate in the upcoming elections.
