NSA Director General Urges GFA and Premier League Clubs to Build and Manage Their Own Stadiums

Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), advocates for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Premier League clubs to take responsibility for constructing and overseeing their stadiums.

Proposing the allocation of 2022 FIFA World Cup funds for a dedicated football stadium, he envisions the GFA managing this project independently. The call for self-owned stadiums arises following CAF’s declaration of the Cape Coast Stadium as unsuitable for hosting Medeama Sporting Club’s Champions League matches.

Professor Twumasi emphasizes the need for quality venues owned by football clubs and suggests partnerships with financial institutions for stadium ownership, with repayments deducted from gate proceeds over time. In response to the rejection of the Cape Coast Stadium, Medeama will relocate their CAF Champions League matches to the Baba Yara Stadium.
