Outlining the reasons the PURC was in Tamale, Alhaji Jabaru Abubari, director, regional operations, said in recent times there have conflicts between NEDCo and the people of Tamale. He said top PURC officials were in Tamale to collaborate with the regional office and engage critical stakeholders in the area in addressing the challenges.

It is a powerful delegation we have brought to Tamale to address a lot of issues. You know that NEDCo has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. So we are here to understand these issues and find solution to them. We know the media is important stakeholder and that’s why we are here at Radio Tamale to call on the management of the station and collaborate with you, he stressed.

And if nothing is done about the situation the power distributor will collapse and there won’t be power in the northern sector. We don’t want that to happen and that’s management has sent this powerful delegation to the northern region to sort out these issues, he noted.

He noted: “NEDCo is installing new metres and this is causing a lot of confusing here and there. But the people need to understand the value those metres. There are here to benefit the customer and help contain operational cost of NEDco”.

He further commended Radio Tamale for reporting extensively on the challenges of the power distribution situation in Tamale.

He stated that, due to the extensive coverage on the conflict the ensued between NEDCO and the people of Koblimahagu, he was in Accra and appreciates the concerns of both parties independently.
