U/E: Kennedy Agyapong donate food items to Bawku residents

Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has donated over five hundred bags of rice, fifty cartons of cooking oil, including other assorted food items to feuding residents of Bawku in the Upper East region.

The Chairman for the security committee in Ghana’s Parliament, hinted that the gesture was in response to a recent appeal by some vulnerable residents within the area who were affected by the current Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

As a result of the recent chieftaincy violence with the Bawku area, some residents are unable to engage in normal trading activities or embark on any farming activity for their lives and unplanned attacks.

This situation has also compelled some residents especially women and children to resort to begging on the streets, hoping on philanthropists and other benevolent individuals for daily survival.

Mr. Agyepong during the donation admonished community leadership to help embrace peace and also ensure that, the items are distributed in equal proportion to the feuding factions without any form of discrimination.

I will like to also appeal to the residents of Bawku especially the youth to try and channel their youthfulness into profitable ventures and not indulge in killings or terrorising each other.

Municipal chief executive of Bawku Hon. Hamza Amadu who received the items on behalf of the people of Bawku expressed gratitude to Mr Kennedy Agyepong for the kind gesture and promised to equitably distribute them as required.
