Video: You’re an ex-convict, not fit to be MP; “I dare you to sue me in court” ~ Kpebu tells Tolon MP

Private legal practitioner and ardent critic of the Akufo-Addo government, Lawyer Martin Kpebu, has asked the member of parliament for Tolon constituency, Habib Iddrisu who doubles as second deputy majority chief whip to be much concerned about his supposed legal battle at the Supreme Court over his eligibility to stand for elections in Ghana then always talking about breaking the eight.

According to Mr. Kpebu, Habib Iddrisu who is christened as an alleged ‘fraudster’ and an ‘ex-convict’ in Australia is having his eligibility as an MP in question and should be more concerned about that than fighting to defend President Akufo Addo and breaking the eight.

The NPP Tolon MP who was stating a position for his government and Party regarding the leaked tape which captures a senior police officer and another NPP bigwig allegedly hatching a plot to oust the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, took umbrage with the remarks from Martin Kpebu.

However, the statement about his alleged conviction in Australia threw the MP off the hills rendering him ballistic with threats and unprintable insults meted at Lawyer Kpebu.

At this point, the TV3’s weekend current affairs program, ‘The Big Issue’ with Alfred Ocansey, had to activate a forced commercial break to sanitise the show from becoming an epicentre of the unrestrained verbal bout after guests.

He has mentioned a certain statement and I’m telling you that I’m going to take action based on this record. You said I was convicted in Australia and that there is a case against me. The point is, have I been found guilty in any court of competent jurisdiction? I’m very disappointed in you. If you don’t withdraw it now, I will take action.

But Martin Kpebu appeared very determined in his quest to understand why the Tolon constituency Member of Parliament is consistently running away from the issue and pretending not to have been served any writ by the court.

They said you are not eligible. You were convicted in Australia for something. Kpebu repeated.

Honorable Habib, I thought you will be concerned with the case in Supreme Court against you, the NPP MP fought back, defending his innocence that, there is no case against me.

But Martin Kpebu was adamant that he was on the right path. He dared the MP to “let’s go to court.
