WE’VE A LONG WAY TO CATCHING UP WITH THE REST

With Ghanaian duo Benjamin Azamati and Sean Sarfo Antwi booking their place at the semifinals of the men’s 100m at the ongoing commonwealth games, athlete’s trainer for team Ghana Myles Mills says despite the recent successes by Ghanaian athletes, the country has a long way to go to catch up with the rest of the world.

“We have not caught up with the best yet but I’m optimistic that if our athletes keep their heads firm, focused, and determined, we could witness breakthroughs in the next few games and championships.”

The former star sprinter stated that his athletes are not getting carried away by hype and expectations.

Neither the athletes nor the coaches are getting carried away, there is still a lot of work to be done, a lot of investment, and the need to put together bold strategies to ensure that the talents coming through also realize their full potential.
