The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, Hon. Attah Issah, has cut the sod for an astroturf at Hilaalia Primary School, as part of efforts to promote sports development and youth engagement in the constituency.

The ceremony, held on Sunday, 26 July 2026, brought together residents, traditional leaders and other stakeholders who welcomed the project and praised the MP for supporting local development.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Issah said the project had been started under the previous New Patriotic Party administration but was left unfinished. He said he decided to continue it so young people and other residents could benefit from a modern sporting facility.

He also announced plans for a football competition set to begin in December 2026 and run into 2027. Under the proposed prizes, the winning team will receive GH¢30,000, the runners-up GH¢20,000, the third-place team GH¢10,000 and the fourth-place team GH¢5,000.

Residents of Hilaalia expressed excitement over the project and urged the community to protect and maintain the facility for future generations.

Healthcare boost

After the astroturf ceremony, the MP and his team travelled to Yilonayili, where they donated medical items to the local CHPS compound to support healthcare delivery.

The donation is expected to reduce the burden on residents who often travel long distances to access medical care. Community members, including the chief, thanked the MP for the gesture and said the support would improve services at the facility.

Electricity support

Hon. Issah, together with the Municipal Chief Executive, later visited Shigu and Chang Naayili, where transformers were presented to improve electricity supply in the two communities.

Residents welcomed the intervention and said it would help address long-standing power challenges in the area.

The MP said the projects form part of broader efforts to improve sports, healthcare and electricity infrastructure and raise living standards across the Sagnarigu Constituency.
