MP Commissions Mechanised Borehole to Improve Water Access in Dungu Community

  • MP Commissions Mechanised Borehole to Improve Water Access in Dungu Community

The Member of Parliament for the Sagnarigu Constituency, Hon. Attah Issah, has commissioned a standard mechanised borehole at Dungu (Sugashee) to provide residents with safe and reliable drinking water.

The commissioning on Saturday, 4 July 2026, formed part of a series of development projects the MP said aim to improve living conditions across the constituency, with a focus on communities served by CHPS compounds and those with limited access to potable water.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Attah Issah said access to clean water remains a top priority for his office, adding that many communities had repeatedly raised concerns about persistent shortages. The Dungu borehole was one of four projects inaugurated that day; earlier the MP opened a three‑unit classroom block before proceeding to the water facility.

“The provision of clean water will improve public health and reduce the burden on women and children who travel long distances in search of water,” he said, noting the projects are also intended to create a better learning environment for school children.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hon. Abdulai Imoro Gong, attended the ceremony and commended the MP’s investment in community services. He described the interventions as significant for healthcare delivery, household welfare and the wider development of the municipality.

Residents welcomed the borehole as a major relief from years of hardship, saying they often walked long distances with no guarantee of finding water. Community leaders pledged to maintain the facility to ensure it serves future generations and thanked Hon. Attah Issah for responding to a pressing local need.

Officials say the mechanised borehole will reduce water‑related health risks, free up time for education and economic activity, and form part of continued efforts to improve basic infrastructure across the constituency.
