The Black Princesses made the worst possible start to their U20 FIFA Women's World Cup campaign, losing 3-0 to Ecuador in their Group C opener.
Charles Sampson's side failed to find the back of the net after 90 minutes, beginning their campaign on a losing note.
Head coach Charles Sampson said his team was unfortunate to have lost, attributing the defeat to a lack of clinical edge in the final third, while acknowledging the team's show of character.
The gaffer remains adamant that, despite the loss, his side are still in contention to qualify from the group.
The Princesses have never made it out of the group stages of the tournament despite seven appearances on the world stage, and after losing their Group C opener, they find themselves in a difficult situation, needing positive results in their final two group games. Ghana will next play South Korea on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
