Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Ghana winger Mohammed Kudus is in contention to start tonight’s EFL Cup tie against Liverpool at Anfield.

Kudus has seen limited first-team action in the opening weeks of the new season as Tottenham carefully manage his return from a lengthy injury lay-off. The setback kept the Ghana international out of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA world cup campaign, but he is now gradually being re-integrated into De Zerbi’s squad.

Spurs travel to Merseyside still searching for their first goal and first victory of the campaign under their Italian manager. Their difficult start has increased the importance of the cup fixture, with De Zerbi looking for a positive response from his players against Liverpool.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Tottenham boss said Kudus has made encouraging progress physically and could be handed a place in the starting line-up.

The former West Ham United attacker’s possible return would provide Tottenham with an added attacking option as they seek to end their early-season goal drought.
