Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, making it six wins from six and keeping Enzo Maresca’s side top of the table on 18 points after another statement result in their impressive opening run of the campaign.

Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki delivered the goals in a second-half flurry that settled the contest and left Liverpool with no way back. The hosts finished with 10 men as City turned the meeting into another successful afternoon, taking all three points without conceding against their fellow heavyweights.

The result gives City another major victory to build on as their early-season momentum continues. Six matches into the league campaign, Maresca’s team have yet to drop a point, and their latest success came at a ground where Liverpool would have wanted to halt the visitors’ winning start in style.

Instead, it was City who emerged with their record intact and three different names on the score sheet. Haaland, Doku and Cherki supplied the decisive contributions after the break, giving the final score an emphatic look and ensuring Liverpool were left to reflect on a difficult afternoon in front of supporters.

For Liverpool, the combination of playing with a numerical disadvantage and conceding three second-half goals proved too much to overcome. They ended the match empty-handed, while City left Anfield with both a clean sheet and another victory to add to a league campaign that has so far brought maximum points.

The Anfield victory also adds weight to City’s early results. Beating Liverpool away from home gives this latest win particular significance, although the campaign still has a long way to run. For now, City has answered every league challenge with a victory and remain the team leading the table outright.
