Former Netherlands international Clarence Seedorf has returned to the coaching dugout after being appointed head coach of Brazilian side Corinthians.
The 50-year-old joins the club on a contract until the end of 2027, with Corinthians sitting 16th in the Brazilian top flight, one place above the relegation zone with eight games remaining.
Seedorf takes over from former Brazil interim national team coach Fernando Diniz, who was sacked by Corinthians last week after the club lost seven consecutive league games.
The former Dutch international’s last coaching spell was with the Cameroonian national team seven years ago. He previously had underwhelming spells at his former club AC Milan, Shenzhen FC and Deportivo La Coruna.
Following his announcement as the club’s new head coach, Seedorf acknowledged the responsibility that comes with the role as Corinthians battle to avoid relegation.
“Taking on this challenge is an honour, but also a huge responsibility. I am here to give my all and build a team that fights for every ball, every minute, every victory,” he said.
