Mion NPP polling station executives issue 7-day ultimatum over chairman’s resignation

Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station executives, electoral area coordinators and party members in the Mion Constituency have issued a seven-day ultimatum to certain constituency and regional executives over a dispute involving the newly elected constituency chairman.

The ultimatum follows the Chairman Sulemana Abubakari also known as Chairman Shehu's reported resignation after an alleged misunderstanding with some constituency and regional executives over appointments he made, which were later rejected.

The polling station and area coordinators are now demanding that regional and constituency executives immediately accept the appointments made by the chairman.

In a statement, they warned that executives who are unwilling to work with the chairman will not receive their support as polling station officials, electoral area coordinators and party members in the constituency.

The dispute highlights growing tensions within the party’s local structures in Mion, as grassroots members push back against what they describe as interference in the chairman’s authority.

Party sources say the situation could affect mobilisation and internal cohesion in the constituency if not resolved quickly.

The chairman reportedly resigned following an alleged misunderstanding with some constituency and regional executives regarding appointments he made, which were later rejected.
