Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho Gaúcho is set to come out of retirement at the age of 46 for a special appearance with Italian Serie C club Ravenna FC.

Ronaldinho will lace up his boots for a match against Ravenna on Monday, August 24,  at 8 p.m., in what club president Ignazio Cipriani hopes will be the final goal-scoring appearance of the former Barcelona and Brazil star’s career.

“He will play a match in the hope of scoring with us the very last goal of his career,” Cipriani said.

Ronaldinho, a shareholder in Ravenna, is expected to take part in the match as the club welcomes the Brazilian icon back to the pitch.

The 2002 World Cup winner retired from professional football in 2018 after a career that included spells with Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, AC Milan and other clubs.

He won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005 and helped Barcelona win the UEFA Champions League in 2006.

His return is expected to draw significant attention as fans get another chance to watch one of football’s most celebrated entertainers in action.
