Ghana's plans to establish a national airline have taken a significant step forward after preliminary studies confirmed the project's viability and a strategic roadmap was agreed upon during a meeting between President John Dramani Mahama and officials of the Boeing Group.
The meeting focused on advancing efforts to launch a new national carrier, with Boeing offering technical and strategic support to help bring the long-awaited project to fruition.
According to details from the discussions, a comprehensive roadmap has been developed to guide the establishment of the airline. The plan includes identifying strategic and technical partners, securing an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), selecting a suitable fleet, and arranging the necessary financing to support operations.
Officials from Boeing reaffirmed their commitment to assisting Ghana throughout both the establishment and operational phases of the airline, signalling strong international backing for the initiative.
The proposed national carrier is expected to maximise the use of Ghana's modernised airport infrastructure while strengthening the country's position in the aviation sector. It also aligns with President Mahama's vision of transforming Accra into the leading aviation hub in West Africa, creating employment opportunities and stimulating economic growth.
