The Division One League Board of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the play-off match between Nsuatreman FC and Tamale City FC is on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This was contained in a letter dated 14th June, 2022 addressed to both clubs by the FA.

Both Nsuatreman FC and Tamale City FC concluded the 2021/2022 Division One Zone One League with accumulated 71 points apiece.

Per the new GFA rules and regulations of the Division One League, head to head is the method used to determine the winner of a Zone but both Nsuatreman FC and Tamale City FC have equal head to head.

According to the latest rules of the FA, goal difference does not determine a winner for a Zone meaning, first placed Tamale City FC’s 9 goals advantage can not count hence a playoff.

The winner of the play-off match between the two will determine which club qualifies to Ghana’s top-flight league next season.

“Due to the number of points accumulated and being par at head to head from the two matches played between your clubs, Tamale City FC and Nsuatreman FC at the end of the 2021/2022 league season, you are respectfully informed to honor a play-off match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, 21st June,2022 at 15:00Hrs to determine which club qualifies to the Ghana premier league”.

The FA, in the said letter also notified the Referees Appointment Committee (RAC) to appoint officials for the said play-off match.

“We are by a copy of this letter informing the Referees Appointment Committee to appoint officials to handle the above match as scheduled”.

Football fans in Tamale are hopeful Tamale City FC will qualify to play in the Ghana premier league next season. Should Tamale City FC qualify, they may join rivals Real Tamale United, RTU in the top-league for next season’s campaign.
