Ghana’s football administration must be overhauled after disappointing AFCON exit ~ Football analyst

In the aftermath of Ghana’s unexpected group stage exit at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, sports analyst and writer Mohammed Issah, affectionately known as Rossoneri Selecao, has urged football administrators in the country to adopt a holistic approach to the sport.

The Ghana Black Stars at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, secured only 2 points and clinched a 3rd place finish in a group featuring Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique, the disappointing outcome marked their second consecutive failure to advance beyond the group stages of the continental tournament.

Rossoneri Selecao emphasized the need for a return to basics, calling for a dedicated focus on nurturing talent through the academy system. He further advocated for substantial investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure to support young players, emphasizing the importance of developing coaches and incorporating technology into football programs.

While advocating for the revitalization of the domestic league, emphasizing the inclusion of players from it into the national team, the Black Stars. Additionally, he urged for a shift from the intense partisanship within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the winner-takes-all mindset.

In his vision, addressing these fundamental aspects would not only rectify the current setbacks but also contribute significantly to the overall growth and development of football in the nation. Rosso’s plea for a comprehensive approach aims to propel Ghana’s football onto a path of sustained success.
