Vice‑President, Jane Naana Opoku‑Agyemang, has urged public servants and policymakers to put citizens at the heart of government service delivery at the launch of a new book on public sector reform.
The book, Citizen Experience: A Reset for Superior Public and Civil Service Delivery, was co‑authored by Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah and Professor Robert E. Hinson. The launch drew well‑wishers, stakeholders and officials who described the work as a timely intervention in debates about government performance.

In her remarks, the Vice‑President said the book’s central message emphasizes that services must be designed around people’s needs and judged by citizens’ experiences should guide everyday decisions by public officials. She stressed that a successful “Reset Agenda” requires commitment, discipline and sustained effort from those entrusted with serving the public.
The Reset Agenda must be reflected in the daily actions, attitudes, and decisions of those entrusted with serving the public, she said, urging institutions to ask whether services are built for institutional convenience or for citizens’ benefit. She added that frontline public servants are often the face of government and that the quality of their interactions shapes public confidence in state institutions.
The Vice‑President said the book raises necessary questions about how government can become more responsive, accessible and citizen‑centred, and noted that its impact will depend on how closely its ideas are embraced by policymakers, institutions and service providers.

She congratulated Prof. Hinson and Mr Debrah for producing “a thoughtful and timely work” that she said will enrich discussions on public sector reform and service delivery in Ghana.
