The Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency and Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has provided financial support to 100 women in the constituency, granting each beneficiary GH¢2,000 as seed capital to either establish or expand their businesses.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the communities of Jerigu, Gbashe, and Cheshe, received the support as part of ongoing efforts by the Tamale South MP to promote economic empowerment and improve livelihoods within the constituency.

The initiative, which amounts to a total investment of GH¢200,000, is aimed at strengthening women-owned micro and small-scale enterprises, enabling beneficiaries to increase their incomes and contribute meaningfully to local economic development.
The MP has always affirmed his commitment to supporting women, recognizing their critical role in family welfare, community development, and economic growth. He encouraged the recipients to utilize the funds prudently to grow sustainable businesses that would create lasting benefits for themselves and their families.
The women expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely support that would help them overcome financial constraints and expand their entrepreneurial activities.
Supporting women through direct economic empowerment has remained a hallmark of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu’s leadership in Tamale South. For more than two decades, he has consistently prioritized initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of women and vulnerable groups across the constituency.

Residents and community leaders have often commended the Minister and MP for his people-centered approach to development, noting that such interventions continue to create opportunities and improve living standards for many households in Tamale South.
The latest support package is expected to further enhance economic activity in the beneficiary communities while reinforcing efforts to promote financial independence among women in the constituency.
